'Dragon Tattoo' Character Bios And Trent Reznor's Score Revealed
by Sterling Wong The buzz for Decembers much anticipated "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo film adaptation is slowly but surely building. First came the kickass teaser trailer released at the beginning of summer with its memorable tagline, The Feel Bad Movie of Christmas. And today, via the films official website, comes character profiles for 18 characters, including, of course, ones for Daniel Craigs Mikael Blomkvist and Rooney Maras Lisbeth Salander. We also get a sneak preview of Trent Reznor and Atticus Rosss score for the film. Lisbeth, according to her profile, is pale and anorexic-looking and all but mute [and] she radiates hostility. But her eyes, all but lost in heavy black make-up, hint at the hurt and vulnerability inside. Craigs Bomkvist, meanwhile, is just a financial reporter who works hard and is unprepared for what actually awaits him. While browsing the character bios on the site, make sure you dont have your speakers on mute, because on autoplay is a sampling of Reznor and Rosss film score. Reznor and Ross last collaborated with Dragon Tattoo director David Fincher on the brilliant score of last falls The Social Network, so expectations are high for this project, and the duo doesnt disappoint. The seven-minute long sample track, played on a loop as you browse the site, is minimal and evocative, and pretty darn eerie-sounding. In other words, perfect for what should be a dark, unsettling thriller. And we know from the teaser trailer that Reznor and Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O worked on an impossibly cool cover of Led Zeppelins Immigrant Song for the movie. So if we go by what weve heard so far and seen so far, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo looks like it will more than live up to the hype. Can Christmas come already?
